Ecosystem Puzzle
The puzzle is an educational tool that will allow children to understand and appreciate the values of the seagrass habitat in a fun and interactive manner. It invites children to create a seagrass meadow and discover its wonders and benefits through play and creativity.
Puzzle pieces include dunes, seagrass blades, seeds and sea creatures, flatfish, young fish, seahorses, and sea snails that can be constructed into a seagrass meadow to build an ecosystem. The puzzle pieces can be slotted into a base or each other and composed into different arrangements, supporting creative play. There are opportunities for matching vocabulary to specific features of the plant as well as questions, which can be answered through exploring the puzzle pieces.
This puzzle is housed at the National Marine Aquarium, where it is used in educational workshops. It is also toured at outreach events across the UK by the ReMEDIES environmental partnership.“The game is a great way to engage families and start conversations about the broader work of the ReMEDIES Seagrass Project. We really appreciate having these creative engagement tools at outreach events” ReMEDIES Project Education Manager | Ocean Conservation Trust | National Marine Aquarium
Commissioned by LIFE Recreation ReMEDIES | A project led by Natural England in partnership with Ocean Conservation Trust, Marine Conservation Society, Royal Yachting Association and Plymouth City Council/Tamar Estuaries Consultative Forum.
