Stop-Motion Animation Workshops
In these workshops, we take a deep dive into the underwater world through stop-motion animation and explore how the artform can be used to educate, entertain, and inspire conservation action. We explore marine environments through storyboarding ideas before animating using a range of simple techniques. Finally, we end workshops by sharing our creations on the big screen.
We have adapted these workshops for different audiences and spaces.
At ‘STEM-fest’ hosted at National Marine Aquarium, Children and Young people were introduced to the wonders of seagrass habitats and were challenged with surprise packs to tell a specific story of seagrass, for example how it pollinates or filters water. Workshop developed with Marine Biologist Jasmine Rix.
Through project ‘Generation Ocean’ children in primary schools across Plymouth were invited to explore what Plymouth National Marine Park means to them and their futures.
At ‘Plymouth Nature Film Festival’ a collective stop-motion animation was created throughout the course of the day and screened as part of the panel discussion. College techniques were used to explore the theme of ‘Change’.
